Roy Yoshimoto passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 8th at the age of 90. He was born in Campbell, California to the late Frank Matazo and Helen Yaye Yoshimoto. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy "Dottie"; son, Wayne (Phyllis); daughter, Diana "Dee Dee" Watanabe (Jerry); grandchildren, Sean and Christine, and great-grandchildren, Lilliana and Bianco. Roy was a veteran of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he settled with his wife and family in San Mateo and worked as an independent gardener. They moved to Foster City where he then worked for the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Dept. as an Irrigation Specialist until his retirement. Activities that he enjoyed with his wife and family were gardening, bowling, casino gambling and road trips. In the later years, they moved to Sunnyvale to be closer to family. Roy will be dearly missed by his wife and family, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Palo Alto Buddhist Temple, 2751 Louis Rd., Palo Alto.
