Obituary for Marion Ruth Scatchard

Resident of Sunnyvale
Marion died peacefully on August 19, 2019 with her nephew, Mark by her side. Age 96 ½
years young, in Michigan. A great woman who will be remembered for her youthful spirit and zest for life.
Born on Feb. 26, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, of polish ancestry. Marion lived in Florida, Washington, as well as California. Her family came first, even though she was in CA. She made many trips back to visit for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. Survived by her nephew Mark (Diana) Sikorski, great nephew Christopher, nieces Jennifer, Lauren, and Meagan. 6 great great nephews Nicholas, Brendan, Justin, Joseph, D.J. and Asher. Also survived by her “California Family” made up of many loving friends. Preceded in death by her mother Mamie, husband Tom, brother Robert Sikorski, nephew Rob Sikorski.
Marion worked for 60 yrs in the electronic industry retiring at the age of 79. Her career began with PC Circuit Board Assembly line, working her way up to Lead and then gradually moved on management for Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving and Maintenance. A great team leader and teacher for many, especially the young people who worked for her. She loved to organize and problem solve. No job was ever too much for her. She accepted the challenge and pursued the goal. Marion established many lifelong friendships along the way.
In retirement she began volunteering at El Camino Hospital for many years and then to the Discovery Shop in Los Altos for 15 years, until 2018. She loved to spend time in downtown Los Altos enjoying the shops, and a good cup of coffee. Marion made her home in the Bay Area for over 50 years. She had her “California Family” who loved spending time with her and enjoying meals out, time together, holidays, fun adventures, and many breakfasts her favorite meal. In her younger years she enjoyed having people over for a great home cooked meal. She took great pride in setting a beautiful table and making everything nice. Her clothing was always impeccable, pressed perfectly with wonderful shoes, and great accessories. She loved the Christmas holiday times and decorating her home. Good things do come in small packages and this petite lady proved it! She loved a good joke, comic strip, laughs and of course her favorite “Peanuts and Charlie Brown" It was the simple things that Marion enjoyed to make life better. She will be remembered as a very independent, loving, thoughtful, caring, generous person with a definite streak of “stubbornness”….We will all miss Marion.
